or...what's happening??
If you've ever had a dog in heat, you have an inkling what I'm going to say.... AAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH! HA ha ha ha! So having a dog in heat is nothing new around here.... And Miss Kiwi is in her first breedable heat. WHAT, you say? Well first timers shouldn't be bred on their first heat; it's not good for them. It's better for their bodies to wait, in particular these smaller breed dogs. So, Kiwi has been in heat before, twice actually, and we all survived. But THIS heat cycle we decided she could be mated and Patch was elected for the job! Kiwi and Patch are both piebalds.... Patch more so.... and Kiwi is chocolate, so I decided to go for it. I never imagined Patch would be so.... so... inept!!! Patch thinks his idea of foreplay is to bark.... constantly.... IN HER FACE!!!!! It drives her batty. It drives ME over the edge! Guys.... it never stops! How is he not losing his voice??? Finally, out of desperation, I locked them in a kennel as far away as possible... from my bedroom!!! No, I can't see if he's gotten the job done firsthand, but at least I'm not on the brink of a nervous breakdown. I sure hope he figures out the birds and the bees!!!!
August 16, 2026 this is where I hope to share recent happenings with you.... horse show stuff, puppy stuff, etc. , everything that is happening. Fingers crossed that it works! Yesterday I took Mac out and put him and 7-up in the round pen and got to watch him away from his pasture. I've been working very hard these past months to get weight on him, and while he's not perfect, he's much improved. I'm very happy with him. Here is the video....
